British envoy launches shopping fest at Ezdan

DOHA: Aiming at promoting Qatar-UK bilateral economic ties, British Ambassador to Qatar Nicholas Hopton invited people to visit the ongoing ‘Shopping Festival’ at Ezdan Mall to enjoy shopping experience at the festival, which include some of the leading British brands, said a press statement yesterday. 
The ambassador, along with his wife, participated in the inauguration ceremony of the shopping festival under the slogan “Shopping is Great” on Tuesday. The festival aims at celebrating the most famous British brands available at the mall, such as Laura Ashley, Clarks and Neal’s, M&Co and WHSmith.
“I am proud to be present at the inauguration of the British Shopping Festival at Ezdan Mall, which enjoys a wide range of famous British brands, and I invite everyone to visit it to enjoy such products, as well as the shopping experience at the mall,” said Hopton.
Hopton added that he is keen to participate in all events that would support British goods, as well as cultural events that reflect the rapprochement between the two peoples, the Qatari and the British. He further explained that such bilateral relation has been translated in terms of ‘Qatar UK 2013’ initiative that aims to forge new partnerships between Qatar and the United Kingdom in the fields of art, culture, education, sport and science, while promoting an awareness and appreciation of each country’s culture, achievements and heritage.
Malik Qaiser Awan, General Manager of Ezdan Mall took the British ambassador and his wife on a tour along the mall’s stores, during which they were able to know about the mall and the wide range of distinct services it offers to its visitors, the fact that enables it to be classified among the distinguished malls of the country.
A number of famous brands at the mall have announced special offers throughout the festival period which will last until April 8.
Awan said: “We celebrate the British Week through the British brands and trademarks that are available in the Mall, and that includes a selection of the best choices, which entered the Qatari market for the first time.
“We are proud of the participation of the British embassy and we call on the rest of the embassies in Qatar to organise such events, aiming at bringing together cultures of the peoples.”
Deputy CEO of Ezdan Holding Group Nasser Mohammed Al Abdullah pointed out that Ezdan Holding Group is constantly keen to support its subsidiaries to take part in initiatives that would encourage communication between Qatari people and other nations. 
According to the statement, Ezdan Mall has managed to attract about 70 new brands to enter the Qatari market for the first time out of the 140 stores within the mall. Ezdan Mall is regarded as not only a distinguished shopping center, but also a perfect attraction for families and relaxation outlet.
