Six held as ‘sweika’ racket busted

Doha: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Ministry of Interior has arrested six Asians involved in production, packaging and sale of ‘sweika’, an illegal product made of chewable tobacco. 
A large quantity of sweika was also seized during a raid.
The department acted on tip-offs from unidentified sources on production and packaging of ‘sweika’ at a house in Old Ghanem area. 
The suspects were kept under watch to ensure reliability of the information and six people were arrested during the raid on the house. 
The suspects were referred to the Capital Security Department for legal procedures, the ministry said in a statement yesterday.
The CID has asked the public to report any suspicious activities related to sweika as it harms human health.
