Emir holds talks with Bashir

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday arrived in Khartoum on a one-day official visit to Sudan. He was accompanied by a high-level official delegation. 
On arrival at Khartoum International Airport, the Emir and his delegation were welcomed by President Field Marshal Omar Hassan Ahmad Al Bashir and top officials, Qatari Ambassador Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Nuaimi, Sudanese Ambassador to Qatar Yasser Khudor Khalaf Allah and ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries accredited to Sudan.
In a statement, the Emir extended on his and the Qatari people’s behalf greetings to the President and the people of Sudan, wishing them the best of health and more welfare and prosperity.
The Emir said his visit confirms the keenness of both countries to continue consultation and coordination on common issues, particularly the Arab and regional situation and to enhance relations for the benefit of both brotherly peoples.
The Emir asked Allah to help them for the good and for the interests of both brotherly peoples and Arab and Islamic countries. 
Earlier, the Emir was accorded a red-carpet reception.
Bashir presented the Emir with the Medal of Honour in recognition of excellent ties between both countries. 
The Emir held talks with Bashir in the Friendship Hall, in the presence of the Emiri delegation and Sudanese ministers and senior officials. 
Both sides discussed means of bolstering relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Prior to talks, the Emir and Bashir held a meeting and discussed issues of mutual concern.
The Emir also attended a luncheon banquet hosted in his honour by Bashir, at the Friendship Hall.
Several Sudanese ministers, officials and Arab ambassadors accredited to Sudan attended .
In the afternoon,  the Emir left for Algeria. The Emir was seen off at the airport by Bashir, senior Sudanese officials, the Qatari ambassador to Sudan and the Sudanese ambassador to Qatar.
The Emir sent a cable to Bashir, expressing thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to him and his delegation. 
The Emir arrived in Algeria last evening on a two-day official visit.
The Emir and his delegation were greeted at Houari Boumediene International Airport by President of National Assembly Abdul Qadir Bin Saleh, Qatari Ambassador Ibrahim Abdulaziz Al Sahlawi, and senior Algerian civil and military officials .
The  Emir was also accorded an official reception.
In a statement, the Emir said, “I am pleased today to visit Algeria to meet President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, to whom I convey to the brotherly people of Algeria the best greetings from the people of Qatar, coupled with sincere wishes of happiness and success.
“Needless to say this visit is an expression of our commitment to communication and consultation on issues and challenges facing our nation and about everything that would contribute to supporting and strengthening the bonds of fraternity and close cooperation between our two countries,” the Emir added.
