Emir’s visit boosts ties with Jordan

The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani being welcomed by King Abdullah II of Jordan at Amman’s Marka International Airport yesterday. Later, the two leaders held talks at Basman Palace. 

Amman: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday arrived in Jordan on a day’s visit.
The Emir and his delegation were welcomed at Marka International Airport by H M King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, Royal Court Chief Dr Fayez Al Tarawneh, Qatari Ambassador Zayed bin Saeed Al Khayareen,  embassy staff and senior Jordanian civilian and military officials.
In an arrival statement, the Emir expressed pleasure to meet King Abdullah and said he and the Qatari people have the sincerest feelings of amity and appreciation for the king and the Jordanian people and wished them success.
The  Emir said there is no doubt his visit will provide a good opportunity to exchange views and consult on the most important Arab and Islamic issues that require enhanced cooperation and coordination between the two brotherly countries, especially in these critical circumstances and big challenges facing the Arab nation.
The  Emir prayed to Allah to bring us Jordan together on the path of goodness to serve our countries and our Arab and Islamic nation.
Earlier, the Emir was accorded a red-carpet reception.
In the afternoon, the Emir held talks with King Abdullah  at Basman Palace. They discussed means of bolstering relations in all fields, latest regional and international developments and issues of mutual concern. The Emir’s delegation, Prince Ali and several officials were present.
The Emir attended a luncheon banquet hosted in his honour by King Abdullah. The Emiri delegation and Prince Ali also attended.
In the evening, the Emir returned home.
King Abdullah led well-wishers and saw off the Emir and his delegation at the airport.
Prince Ali, Dr Al Tarawneh, the Qatari ambassador, embassy staff and Jordanian army and civilian officials were present.
The Emir sent a cable to King Abdullah, thanking him for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to him and his delegation.
Meanwhile, Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh said the visit embodied deep ties of brotherhood between the Emir and King Abdullah and reflected developed relations between both countries and peoples. 
In an interview with the Arabic daily Al Sharq, Judeh noted both countries’ keenness to further enhance relations for the benefit of both peoples. 
He said talks between the Emir and King Abdullah will strengthen cooperation between both countries and enhance joint Arab action. 
He praised Qatar’s support for Jordan and its economy, adding that his country seeks to bolster fruitful and constructive cooperation which will reflect positively on both peoples.
Judeh also praised  the care given to Jordanian workers in Qatar, adding that they are living in their second home and contributing to Qatar’s development along with their Qatari and Arab brothers. 
He said Qatar and Jordan have unified positions and are keen to overcome crises faced by the Arab region, strengthen Arab solidarity and unity efforts with regard to the Palestinian cause and the peace process and stop the bloodshed in Syria.
