Two vehicles catch fire as many collide at signal

Vehicles on fire after a number of them crashed near the Al Soudan intersection in Doha yesterday. A car reportedly ran a red light, causing the accident. 

DOHA: At least two vehicles caught fire at Al  Soudan signal in Al Waab yesterday. 
The fire broke out around noon following collision between several vehicles, according to the Ministry of Interior. 
Emergency services rushed to the site and brought the situation under control. 
The Civil Defence controlled the fire that broke out on February 22 Road near Al Soudan signal due to an accident between several vehicles, the ministry said on Facebook and Twitter. 
Police investigating at the site said there were no causalities. 
“A vehicle coming from the passport office direction crossed the red signal. 
“At that time the signal was open for vehicles coming from Khalifa stadium direction towards Al Saad,” said a witness.
“Another vehicle coming from the stadium collided with the other and the driver lost control and hit vehicles stopped at the signal.
“The fire broke out as soon as the vehicles collided and I saw some people jumping out of vehicles and running, everything happened within seconds,” the man added.
The area was cordoned off and traffic was diverted for several hours following the incident.
