DOHA: The Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa Al Thani (Pictured) yesterday approved a decision by the Central Municipal Council (CMC) to sack its Secretary-General Matar bin Shaheen bin Rabia Al Kuwari.

The Minister addressed the closed session of the CMC yesterday which was attended by 22 members. He explained the reasons for sacking the secretary-general, saying it was for the good of the council and its functioning.
He said he had decided to meet the new secretary-general to explain to him things that were not clear for the former secretary-general.
The Minister promised to meet CMC members at his office every week, if they have issues. He also offered to attend the CMC meeting once in every two months. He said, in one of the coming sessions of the CMC, he will present Qatar’s urban development plan to CMC members, once it is approved by the Cabinet.
CMC Chairman Saud Abdulla Al Henzab said there was no personal disagreement with the former secretary-general.
The CMC voted to sack him because “he was not cooperative with CMC members.” The Peninsula
