DOHA: The Second Humanitarian Work Partners Forum, organised by Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah for Humanitarian Services (RAF), began yesterday.
The four-day event is being held under the theme ‘The Excellence of Performance and Sustainability in Giving’ at the Torch Hotel.
Sheikh Khalid bin Thani Al Thani, Vice-Chairman of the board of directors at RAF Foundation, said, “The level reached in humanitarian activities by Qatar is achieved with directives of the leadership. Qatar will remain in its position to support charity and humanitarian work.”
A total of 150 delegates from 70 countries are taking part, including top officials from charity and humanitarian work institutions who are partners of RAF.
Referring to humanitarian work in Syria, Dr Abdullah Al Mahthur, representative of UN Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Consultant at the Emiri Diwan in Kuwait, said, “Humanitarian work experience regarding the situation in Syria confirmed with no doubts that humanitarian work cannot be done in isolation. Therefore partnership between humanitarian organisations has become a strategy with no option.” The Peninsula
