Doha: The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), supported by Qatar Charity (QC), concluded its ninth annual celebration yesterday.
Month-long activities under the theme ‘Beauty of Culture’, attracted a large number of Indians. Activities included a drawing competition in which thousands of students participated, cooking competition, article writing, poem writing and singing traditional songs.
A drawing workshop was also organised in which 10 famous artists from India participated.
Mohamed Al Ghamidi, Executive Director, QC, said the charity organised events because it believed that ICC is playing important role for Indians in Qatar. The community represents a vital component of the Qatari society and is playing an important role in Qatar’s development.
He said the event has been attracting more and more people every year and is a platform to introduce Islamic culture and enhance cultural dialogue.
K Jaikumar, Deputy President, Kerala University, expressed happiness for being part of his countrymen in Qatar and praised the country’s role in encouraging cultural interaction and creating conducive working environment for Indians.
