Prime Minister reviews Ashghal programmes

The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani with Ashghal President Eng Nasser bin Ali Al Mawlawi at Ashghal headquarters yesterday.


Doha: H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Inerior Minister, yesterday visited Ashghal headquarters to get the update on programme and projects being undertaken by the Public Works Authority. 

The prime minister stressed on the importance of consistent communication with the public on announcing project commencement dates and expected schedules of finalisation and delivery timely communication on the developments of implementation stages.
The Prime Minister called for strengthening and energising an open interactive relationship with different members of the local community through continuous feeding of information on different projects being worked on in different parts of Qatar. This, he stressed, would help keep the communities informed of the local and neighbouring infrastructure and building projects being planned or implemented in their areas, in addition to communicating government’s care and master strategy to develop different aspects of Qatar to elite international standards.
The Prime Minister highlighted the efficiency and timely communication of the Corniche projects that included converting all roundabouts in the Corniche area to traffic signals intersections.
During the visit, a presentation was given on the Inner Doha Re-sewerage Implementation Strategy (IDRIS), and its developments. IDRIS represents a long-term strategy for the upgrading and expansion of the current sewerage infrastructure, especially for centre and southern Doha. 
It includes the extension of more than 100km of pipelines connecting the deep main trunk sewer with the lateral interceptor sewers, the pumping station, the main trunk, the new facilities for the treatment of sewage effluent in southern Doha, the treated sewage effluent pumping station sewage treatment, and giant pumpers to deliver the sewage effluents to the treatment plant in Doha South.
“The visit of H E the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, to the Public Works Authority emphasises the importance that the government gives to monitoring Ashghal’s projects,” said Engineer Nasser bin Ali Al Mawlawi, Ashghal President. “These are projects are very critical and have a big role in driving the socio-economic growth of Qatar and in serving the communities. Also this visit reflects HE’s keenness to continuously and closely monitor the development stages of Ashghal’s programmes, and to offer his continuous support to the Public Works Authority to execute them,” he said.
Focusing on the drainage network, Engineer Ahmed Sharif, the Drainage Network Operations & Maintenance Manager gave a presentation on the capacity of the current the treatment plants, and the future expansions.
The Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation also visited Ashghal’s Contact Centre that was launched in May 2013. The centre was launched to enable customers to communicate with Ashghal’s team around the clock, seven days a week.
