Corniche Street to close for nine days

 26 Feb 2014 - 3:02

Doha: Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced temporary closure of the Corniche Street from Sheraton Roundabout to the Post Office signalised junctions to complete the conversion of the roundabout to a signalised junction.
The nine-day closure takes effect from tomorrow night to March 8.
Commuters will be required to use alternative roads and follow directions and road signs.
Traffic from Dafna Roundabout and City Centre to Sheraton will have to go right to Al Funduq Street and use alternative roads to reach the Corniche Street, or take Majlis Al Taawon Street (as indicated on the map).
Commuters from Majlis Al Taawon Street will have to take Omar Al Mukhtar Street and then go right towards Dafna Roundabout.
While commuters on Al Funduq Street going towards Sheraton Roundabout will have to go right in front of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and follow signs to reach the Corniche Street.
The project consists of three-lane dual carriageways on the Corniche Street, including three lanes towards City Centre Mall and three towards Omar Al Mukhtar Street, in addition to side roads to the right of signals.
It also includes creating a signalised pedestrian crossing between the two intersections to access the new Qatar International Exhibition Centre and other government buildings in the area without a need to make a U-turn from Al Dafna intersection. The Peninsula
