Several companies marked National Sport Day with activities for their staff and their families.
Qatar Fuel Additives Company Limited (QAFAC) held sport activities and kids competitions at Jassim Bin Hamad High School.
The Landmark Group held an internal sport day featuring sports. The event will be conducted over five weeks at Centrepoint Al Asmakh Mall & Barwa Plaza Mall.
Msheireb Properties, a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation, demonstrated its support for NSD for the third consecutive year by joining hands with QF with sports and games for employees, contractors, construction workers and family members at its flagship project Msheireb Downtown Doha.
Qatar Airways, Doha International Airport, Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, Qatar Aeronautical College, and Gulf Helicopters held a special event, attended by more than 3,500 sport enthusiasts and members of the Qatar aviation community, including top officials.
A special area was provided for children, with face painting, bouncy castles, balloons, a magician’s show, and other activities.
Trophies were presented to winners of various competitions.
Coinciding NSD, the closing ceremony of 2014 Qatar Steel Ice Hockey Cup Tournament was held. It was organised by the Winter Sports Committee from February 7 to 11 at Villagio. Qatar Steel was the main sponsor.
Qatar Petroleum’s Dukhan Operations also marked NSD, with many people within the Dukhan community joining in the fun and celebrations and participating in activities to keep fit.
Alfardan Group organised Alfardan Sports Day at Al Ahli Sports Club.
Meanwhile, staff of International Bank of Qatar participated in a three kilometre annual race organised by Qatar Central Bank. The race started at 8am from Media Intersection and ended at the Pearl Site on the Corniche.
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) held activities for its employees and affiliated companies in Ibn Sina School for Boys in Duhail.
In keeping with its corporate social responsibility programme’s focus on promoting healthy living, Qatar Fuel (WOQOD) organised fun-filled contests and activities for its employees and their families at Aspire Park while Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) staff participated in a 3-km marathon on the Corniche, organised by Qatar Central Bank in the morning.
QFMA also held evening events for its staff and their families in coordination with Al Yarmouk Independent Preparatory School for Boys.
