DOHA: Vodafone Qatar yesterday unveiled details of its new ‘Red Postpaid’ plans that come with exclusive privileges, best value and great family deals, many of which are first time in Qatar.
The telecom service provider also announced to launch of 4G services in a “reasonably” short period of time; however it did not provide date when customers will be able to switch to 4G networks.
In his opening speech, Vodafone Qatar’s Chairman, Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Thani Al Thani, highlighted the company’s achievements and accomplishments.
“When I was appointed chairman, it was important that as a Qatari-owned company by more than 75 percent, we underpin our relevance to Qataris. Our staff and partners have been working hard at launching a great range of propositions and what you will see today (yesterday) is revolutionary.”
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines, Vodafone’s CEO Kyle Whitehill, said: “With this new plans we intend to provide more value to the users. A large number of people here pay a lot of money for a plan but do not get as much value as they want. So the users of a Red plan will get more fair deal.”
He said Vodafone Qatar is continuing to make huge investments to enhance its indoor coverage and value added services, such as data capacity, at more competitive prices.
“In a reasonably short term we are also going to launch 4G service to provide customers with a much faster experience of Internet access,” Whitehill said.
Vodafone Group plc has launched Vodafone Red in 19 countries, including the UK, Australia, Germany, Italy, Spain, Egypt and Turkey, modifying the portfolio to fit the needs of each market.
“Vodafone Red is the biggest global proposition the Group has to date with 7.5 million customers. Vodafone Qatar has brought Vodafone Red best practices from around the world with insights into Qatar. We are changing what customers can expect from their telecom provider forever,” said the CEO.
The Red Postpaid services come under four plans — ‘M’, ‘L’, ‘XL’ and ‘VIP’. Privileges for subscribers of Red include exclusive parking and valet services at major malls and entertainment venues in Qatar, VIP lounge access at more than 600 airports around the world, personalised concierge services and other benefits, depending on the plan opted for.
However, regardless of the plan a customer signs up, they will enjoy unlimited local calling and SMS to anyone in Qatar — it is the first time in Qatar such plans are going to be available permanently.
With each Red plan, customers can enjoy hours of free international calling to their favourite numbers. Many Red plans include roaming minutes and all plans include mobile Internet.
