Rota to host Wheels ‘n’ Heels Family Fun Day at MIA Park on February 7

DOHA: A spectacular line-up of activities and Arab celebrities will highlight the annual Wheels ‘n’ Heels Family Fun Day hosted by Reach Out To Asia (Rota).

Now in its seventh year, Wheels ‘n’ Heels, considered the largest community event in Qatar, will be held on February 7 at the Museum of Islamic Art Park.

Among the local and international celebrities and sports icons who will participate at the event are Singer Shama Hamdan from the UAE, Mahmoud and Abdullah Bo Shri (Kuwait), rally racer Nada Zeidan (Qatar), and teenage swimming sensation Nada Mohamed Arakji (Qatar).

Popular Baraem Children’s Channel presenters Ahmed Al Mulla and Jihan Arsanious will be the masters of the ceremony of the event.

Participants may jog, walk, cycle or wheelchair the three-km Circuit along the Doha Corniche. The social activity will help Rota raise fund to provide quality education to 48 million disadvantaged children in Asia. 

The action will kick off at 2pm and among the entertainment will be performance by Shama Hamdan.

Additional star-studded appearances will include local and international celebrities and sports icons, Mahmoud and Abdullah Bo Shri (Kuwait), rally racer Nada Zeidan (Qatar), and teenage swimming sensation Nada Mohamed Arakji (Qatar).

A special Kids Zone will provide non-stop live entertainment, bouncy castles, face painting, fun games, interactive sports, and performances by well-known singers and dancers. The Childhood Cultural Centre will be providing books and arts and crafts materials to the event.

‘Stay Active and Healthy’ will be the message in the Active & Health Zone which will provide knowledge on first aid, how to prevent accidents, and a free health check-up. Aspire and Qatar Cycling Federation will bring fitness activities and sports fun for the whole family. 

Action on Diabetes village will raise awareness about the prevention and management of diabetes and the promotion of healthy lifestyle choices. The village has already proved very successful attracting more than 5000 people last year through a successful public-private partnership between the Supreme Council of Health, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Primary Health Care Corporation, Qatar Diabetes Association, Maersk Oil Qatar and Novo Nordisk.

Other Rota partners will participate in Wheels ‘n’ Heels 2014, such as ASPIRE, Child Culture Centre, Oreedoo, Qatar National Cancer Society, Qatar Orphan Foundation-Dhreima, Qatar Olympic Committee, Qatar University, Green Life, Qatar Brazil 2014, HMC, Qatar Bikes, Slim N Lite, and Qatar Football Association.

There will also be a Wheels ‘n’ Heels Food Zone which will provide tasty, healthy snacks and drinks throughout the day.
