DOHA: The Interior Ministry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Commercial Bank for security printing.

The Security Press under the ministry will print cheque books and other bank documents for the bank in addition to providing related services such as storage.

The press will also print credit cards, magnetic cards, EMV chips and NFC cards.

Storage, lamination and dispatch services for cards will also be provided by the press.

The MoU was signed by Brigadier Engineer Abdul Azeez Abdullah Al Ansari, Director of Logistics Department at the ministry, and Abdullah Saleh Al Raisi, CEO of Commercial Bank at the bank headquarters in Dafna.

The signing was attended by Major Faisal Al Ansari, Head of Police Press Section, Sandeep Chouhan, COO of Commercial Bank Group and Ali Haimani, Head of Operations.

Abdullah Al Ansari said it is the right of financial and banking institutions to ensure that their products meet international standards, so that they can meet their customers’ requirements and aspirations.

Abdullah Saleh said the initiative by the ministry to set up the Press is a boon to financial institutions in Qatar as they had to print cheque books and other bank documents abroad.

This was a huge burden on them and caused delays in approval of models and the extent to match specifications, he added. The Peninsula
