Egyptian judge’s remark on Qatar sparks fury

DOHA: The GCC states have denounced a call by a prominent Egyptian judge made to the Egyptian army to send troops to Qatar to arrest Egyptian (Muslim Brotherhood?) activists there.
The Secretary-General of the GCC, Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, (Pictured) described the statement of the head of Egyptian Judges’ Club, Ahmed El Zind, as provocative, reprehensible and rhetorical.
“It (the statement) is against Qatar’s principled stand on Egypt. Qatar has always maintained that it is with Egypt and its people,” Al Zayani said. El Zind is considered close to the present Egyptian rule.
Meanwhile, media reports citing El Zind’s call have led to sharp reaction on the social media from people not only in Qatar but also from other GCC states. “Our (the GCC countries’) relations with Egypt and its people are warm and historical,” said Al Zayani
