Deal signed to build new premises for Passports and Expatriate Affairs Department in Al Noaim

DOHA: The Ministry of Interior has signed an agreement with CEG International, a leading consulting firm, for designing and supervising construction of new premises for its Passports and Expatriate Affairs Department currently in Al Gharafa.
The new premises will be built in Al Noaim in the north, at an estimated cost of QR400m, the ministry said yesterday.
The building will house various departments under the General Directorate of Borders Passports and Expatriates Affairs.
Major sections will include the Expatriates Affairs Department, Borders Passports Department, Search and Follow- up Department and Airport Passports Department.
There will be a separate building for the Nationality and Travel Documents Department
Brig Engineer Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ansari, Director of the Logistics Department, and CEG representative, Engineer Mohammed Abdul Aziz Salman, signed the agreement.
The signing was attended by Brig Mohammed Ahmed Al Atiq Al Dousari, Assistant Director of General Directorate of Borders Passports and Expatriates Affairs Department, Brig Abdullah Saad Al Bouainin, Director of Nationality and Travel Documents Department, and Brig Saud Rashid Al Shafi, Head of Purchase Section for Logistics Department.
Al Ansari said construction will be completed by the end of 2016. The design is expected to be ready by this July and construction contracts would be awarded by early 2015.
He said the multi-storey building will be supported with spacious parking area that can accommodate 7,000 to 10,000 visitors daily.
