181 QP graduates honoured

The Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of Qatar Petroleum HE Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada honouring one of the graduates.

Doha: The Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of Qatar Petroleum (QP) HE Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada on Sunday honoured 181 Qatari nationals who completed their academic studies and training under QP’s scholarship programme.

The QP Graduates Recognition Ceremony 2014 at Qatar National Convention Centre honoured 10 with Master’s degree, 104 with bachelor’s degrees, 30 who received diplomas, six who completed Clerical Preparation Programme and 31 who received TAFE-Certificate III. 

“QP’s commitment to develop its human resources has precedence in all its strategies, in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030, launched and guided by the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani,” Dr Al-Sada said, stressing that there is no limit to the company’s strong support for Qatari youth. 

“Through its human development efforts, the government is working hard to build a world-class education system capable of unlocking the creative potential of our youth, and this is consistent with our objective of building a modern society and a knowledge-based economy.”

The QP-sponsored graduates who received recognition during the event comprised 124 male students and 57 female students, who were enrolled in colleges and universities in Qatar or in educational institutions abroad.

QP Board members, directors, corporate managers, department managers and top officials from QP’s joint ventures and subsidiaries were also present at the ceremony. 

In his opening speech, Ahmed Ali Al Mawlawi, Director for Administration, QP, congratulated the graduates and praised their hard work and dedication which enabled them to complete their university studies and training. 

He also congratulated their families and expressed gratitude to Dr Al Sada for his continued support in pushing forward the educational process in QP.

Dr Al Sada also had a video call with two QP-sponsored students doing courses in Cardiff University. 

He presented a Certificate of Appreciation to each graduate.

QP’s comprehensive scholarship programmes provide young Qatari students with a wide range of specialised training and educational opportunities in universities, colleges and training centres in Qatar and abroad.
