Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday visited the site of Qatar National Museum Project, an affiliate of Qatar Museums Authority (QMA).
The Emir was briefed on stages of work process and implementation plans in addition to restoration processes of the old (ancient) Palace.
The Emir also got acquainted with several engineering charts and architectural designs in addition to the operation plan- related mechanism outlining stages of progress and achievements.
Project officials have begun the process of collecting ethnographic and archaeological collectibles and whatever made available in Qatar through programmes and activities to achieve the goals of the museum to root and bring together Qatari material and moral heritage under one roof.
The new museum’s innovative design is created by eminent architect Jean Nouvel.
It is inspired by the ‘Desert Sand Rose’ and is made up of a series of interlocking disks with cavities inside buffered from the hot desert sun. QNA
