DOHA: The popular tea stall near the Sheraton Park has been closed since Tuesday leaving many of its regular customers disappointed.

Al Fawaz Restaurant was the favourite place of people who visit the Corniche and drive around Doha especially at night as only a few such eateries are open 24 hours. It was popular  not only for its ‘karak chai’ but also for juice, coffee and sandwiches.

The eatery was seen empty in-side giving a feel as if it’s going to be closed down permanently. When contacted by The Peninsula a senior official at the Doha Municipality said an eatery can be closed down for several reasons by different departments. He did not disclose whether there is a decision by the municipality to close down the facility.

There was no official notice displayed at the eatery announcing the closure or a date for re-opening.

“Hope they will re-open it soon or we will surely miss the place,” said a regular customer.

“It was a busy place and was open day and night. Importantly the prices were reasonable,” he added.
