DOHA: Sixty-one Palestinians, including 45 children of martyrs are currently visiting Qatar at the invitation of the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who visited Gaza recently. The team arrived in Doha from Gaza Strip on Wednesday on a week-long visit.
Member of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Ahmed Al Zuwaidi, who received the sons and daughters of martyrs and the accompanying delegation, said that the visit was a culmination of the Emir’s initiatives to support the Palestinian people, the people of Gaza and the sons of martyrs in particular.
Al Zuwaidi told Qatar News Agency that the Emir’s generous sponsorship covered all aspects including the provision of decent living, housing, hospitals, schools and compensations for the effects of war. The Emir sought to alleviate suffering of the Palestinian people and took into consideration humanitarian and moral aspects, he added.
He said the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza is responsible for reconstruction and humanitarian projects covering basic services that are denied to Palestinians due to the Israeli war on Gaza.
Khaled Abu Odeh, a member of the visiting Palestinian delegation, expressed deep gratitude and appreciation to the Emir and the people of Qatar who have always been supportive to the Palestinian cause and the rights of Palestinian people. Several children of the martyrs expressed happiness over the generous gesture of the Emir and thanked the leadership and the people of Qatar, saying it was the first time they had left the war-torn Gaza Strip.
