Emir, Heir Apparent perform Istisqaa Prayer

The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani with other dignitaries performing the Istisqaa prayer at Al Wajbah prayer ground yesterday.

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani joined the faithful worshippers in performing the Istisqaa prayer (rain-seeking prayer) at Al Wajbah prayer ground yesterday, in line with the Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

The Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Special Adviser to the Emir, H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani also took part in the prayer.

A number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs and Ministers also performed the prayer. In a sermon after the prayer, Dr Sheikh Thaqeel bin Sayer Al Shammari, the Judge at the Cassation Court and member of the Supreme Judicial Council, urged the worshippers to repent, pray for Allah forgiveness and ask for rain in line with the Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Meanwhile, thousands of  Muslim students from private and Independent schools joined worshippers from all over the country in special prayers seeking rains (Salat Al Istisqaa) held in their premises yesterday morning. The prayers at schools were held under instructions from the Supreme Education Council.
