Kabul: At least four people including security personnel were injured following an explosion in capital Kabul. Security officials said the incident took place early yesterday in the 12th police district of Kabul City.
Zabiullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Taliban group, said at least three Afghan national army officers were killed following the tactical attack which was carried out by Taliban fighters early yesterday morning.
The Taliban insurgency began shortly after the group’s fall from power following the 2001 war in Afghanistan. The Taliban forces are fighting against the Afghan government, led by President Hamid Karzai, and against the US-led International Security Assistance Force.
The insurgency has spread to some degree over the Durand Line border to neighbouring Pakistan, in particular the Waziristan region and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
