Islamabad: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will take part in the third Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) in The Hague from March 24 to 25, 2014.
According to a press release from the Foreign Office, the premier will be accompanied by the special assistant to the prime minister Syed Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry.
Nawaz is expected to address the summit on March 24, and as a keynote speaker at a meeting on the future of the NSS process on March 25. He is expected to enumerate the measures implemented by Pakistan to ensure safety and security of its nuclear facilities and materials at these meetings. The premier is also expected to seek nondiscriminatory access to nuclear technology for peaceful uses.
Security forces kill 5 militants
Islamabad: At least five militants were killed and three others injured in exchange of fire with security forces in southwestern Pakistan yesterday morning, local media reported.
The clash took place when the paramilitary Frontier Constabulary conducted a search operation at suspected militants hideouts in Chahsar area in Turbat district in Balochistan province.
Some unknown militants opened fire at the troops who returned fire and shot dead five militants.
The troops also arrested eight suspects who were taken into custody for investigations.
