Work on several commercial complexes in residential areas is nearing completion. The project started in May last year aims to build 44 complexes with 588 shops in three municipalities including Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Daain. The shopping facilities are being developed on government land on the outskirts of the city, including Jaryan Nujayma, Laqtifiyah, Hazam Al Markhiya, Al Merad, Rawdat Aqdim and Rawdat Al Hammam, among others. Each complex will include a supermarket, laundry, tailoring and barber shops, beauty salon, butchery, restaurant and cafeteria, among other facilities. The Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and the Ministry of Economy and Commerce had signed a contract with a local construction company last year to develop the facilities.
