CAIRO: The Egyptian authorities will recall its ambassador to Qatar after holding the vote on the draft constitution slated  for mid- January, official news agency MENA reported yesterday.
“The decision to recall the ambassador is a protest over the rejected Qatari interference in the Egyptian domestic affairs,” MENA quoted a governmental source as saying.
On Saturday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry summoned the Qatari ambassador to complain about interference in its internal affairs after Doha criticised Cairo’s crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood on Friday which killed 17.
Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy said on Sunday that there will be more escalated steps if Doha won’t review its policies regarding Cairo, adding the Egyptian patience has an end.
