KABUL: At least 38 Taliban militants were killed following military operations in various provinces of Afghanistan in the past 24 hours.
The Interior Ministry of Afghanistan said in a statement the operations were jointly conducted by Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army and Afghan Intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives.
The statement further added that the operations were conducted in Helmand, Farah, Herat, Ghazni, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan and Faryab provinces.
At least 13 Taliban militants were also injured and three others were detained during the operation, the statement added.
Interior ministry officials also said Afghan security forces also confiscated various types of light and heavy weapons along with ammunition and explosives.
Afghan police forces discovered and neutralized an improvised explosive device (IED) during operations in Tarinkot city of Uruzgan province.
The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far. (QNA)
