Committee for Alliance of Civilizations follows up Qatar's plan for alliance

DOHA: Qatar Committee for Alliance of Civilizations has organized the first meeting of the coordinators of the plan of the State of Qatar for the Alliance of Civilizations in the presence of representatives of 14 governmental and non-governmental organizations concerned with the implementation of the plan.

The meeting began with a welcome speech delivered by HE Vice President of the Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations Ambassador Dr. Hassan bin Ibrahim Al Mohannadi in which he thanked all those involved in the implementation of the plan and their keenness to cooperate with the Committee in the implementation of the state's plan for the alliance.

After that, HE the Vice President of the Committee for Alliance of Civilizations gave a presentation in which he referred to the emergence of the Alliance of Civilizations as a system within the framework of the United Nations and the goals it seeks to achieve in light of the tensions taking place in the world and explained the objectives of the Alliance of Civilizations represented in education, youth, immigration and media.

He also noted to the Qatari participations in the five previous coalition forums from Madrid to Vienna, as well as the position occupied by the State of Qatar in the Alliance of Civilizations as HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser was chosen a member of the High Level Group for the Alliance which includes 20 global figures of political and religious leaders and leaders of international organizations and bodies, adding that HE Nassir Abdulaziz Al Nasser also assumed the post of UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations.

HE Ambassador Dr. Hassan bin Ibrahim Al Mohannadi referred to Qatar's organization of the 3rd Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations which was attended by more than 2500 figures from more than 130 states.

In furtherance of this keenness, the Council of Ministers issued decision No. (8) of 2010 to establish the National Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations which works to strengthen the role of the State of Qatar in highlighting the contribution of the Islamic civilization along with other civilizations in human progress and its role in promoting dialogue and resolving conflicts and disputes.

HE the Vice President of the National Committee for Alliance of Civilizations pointed to the role that played by the Committee in preparing the first plan of the State of Qatar of the Alliance of Civilizations which was presented at the 3rd Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations, held in Istanbul in 2009.
