DOHA: HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Kuwari met here on Monday a French Senate delegation who is now visiting Doha.
Talks during the meeting dealt with cultural relations between Qatar And France in particular and between Qatar and the Francophonic states in general and means of bolstering and developing them especially after Qatar's official accession to the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) in 2012.
The pivotal role played by 'the cultural years' between Qatar and several world countries in rapprochement between the peoples and the dialogue of civilizations were also taken up.
French Ambassador accredited to Qatar HE Jean-Christophe Possel attended the meeting.
The French Senate delegation led by Philippe Marini, the head of the French -Gulf friendship group who is also chief of the financial committee at the Senate, are now visiting Qatar and held several meetings with a number of senior state officials.
The International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) was created with the objective of promoting a dialogue to develop a political and economic solidarity between the French-speaking peoples.
The organization comprises 57 member states and governments, three associate members and twenty observers.(QNA)
