Foreign minister receives message from Chinese counterpart

DOHA: HE Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah has received a written message from Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi. 

The message was handed over to HE Dr. Khalid Al Attiyah as he met here Thursday with HE Chinese Ambassador to Qatar Gao Youzhen.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them.


Foreign minister meets Japanese parliamentary delegation

DOHA: HE Foreign Minister Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah met Thursday with Taro Kono, member of the Japanese House of Representatives, and the parliamentary delegation accompanying him from the Japanese-Arab leadership network.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed relations between the two friendly countries and means of cooperation in the fields of common interest.

HE Dr. Al Attiyah voiced his appreciation of the deep existing ties between the two countries, wishing them more prosperity and growth.

He expressed Qatar's keenness on expanding and diversifying these ties from energy to other arenas such as investment, education, scientific research, science and technology.

For his part, Kono stressed Japan's eagerness for Japanese firms to effectively participate in infrastructure projects in Qatar and to make available all the Japanese expertise and capacities.

At the end of the meeting, Kono expressed his gratitude to Qatar for its contribution in support of the victims of the 2011 earthquake in Japan through a donation of $100 million to Qatari-Japanese friendship fund to support long-term development projects.

A number of foreign ministry officials attended the meeting. (QNA)
