SANAA: Yemeni Prime Minister Mohammed Basindawa and HE Qatari Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed bin Hamad Al Hajri placed Friday the cornerstone of Hamad Medical City at Taizz governorate.
A number of GCC officials and Yemeni cabinet members attended the ceremony.
The Yemeni officials made use of the occasion to express their thanks to HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for taking an initiative that will benefit Yemeni people for years to come.
For his part, Yemeni Prime Minister Basindawa praised the role the State of Qatar plays in support of Yemen in all fields.
He also lauded Qatar's commitment to the peace and stability of Yemen.
He also highlighted the strength of bilateral relations which is reflected in Qatar's effort in helping Yemen recover economically.
Yemeni Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Qasem Al Ansi told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that Hamad Medical City will be a marked improvement in the medical services provided by Yemen.
He added that, in addition to providing medical service to six million Yemenis, it will provide thousands of job opportunities for the Yemeni youth. (QNA)
