DOHA: Hosts Qatar will face a strong Oman team in the opening match of the West Asia Hockey Cup at the Rayyan field hockey stadium here Sunday.
The match starts at 4.15pm, organisers of the tournament, Qatar Hockey Federation (QHF), said.
Qatar will play Iran on Monday at the same time and venue. After a day of rest on Tuesday, Oman will play Iran on Wednesday.
The QHF today opened the International Hockey Federation (FIH) level course for coaches here, QHF Secretary General Mohammed Nazer told Qatar News Agency (QNA). Twenty delegates, from Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Iran, Oman, UAE, Ghana and hosts Qatar, are taking the course which will boost their skills to supervise matches," he said.
FIH Continental Development Officer for Asia Tayyeb Ikram, lauding QHF's initiatives to promote hockey here, said, "Qatar is setting an example in the region for developing the game of hockey which is keenly followed by the expatriate community here as well as citizens.
FIH officials are currently visiting Qatar. (QNA)
