Mobile phone services partially suspended in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The mobile phone services have been suspended across Pakistan as part of extraordinary security measures during the observance of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) Tuesday, Pakistani Geo News reported.

The decision to this effect was taken in a bid to foil any untoward incident as various rallies, processions, gatherings will be held today countrywide.

According to sources, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority had directed concerned officials to restrict mobile phone on the behest of provincial governments.

Sources said additional contingents of paramilitary forces have also been deployed in cities declared most sensitive.

More than 12 cities of Punjab have been declared sensitive where cellular services are likely to be blocked as well,

On the other hand the cellular networks have also been turned off for the whole day in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The services will also remain down throughout Balochistan. (QNA)
