BEIJING: China has announced a new case of bird flu infection of a 35 year old man who tested positive for the H7N9 virus, as reported by the Zhejiang Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Three new human cases of H7N9 bird flu were reported in east China's Zhejiang Province over the weekend, said State-run Xinhua News Agency on Monday, citing the provincial health authorities.

One patient was confirmed to be infected with the disease on Saturday and has died, the report said, adding that the two others are now in critical condition.

The three new cases bring the total cases reported in Zhejiang Province to seven in 2014.

Since last March, the virus, which infects birds and people, has reportedly affected more than 150 people in China, killing at least 47. (QNA)
