LONDON: Libya's Zawiya refinery, which has a capacity of 120,000 barrels per day (bpd), has started routine maintenance on one of its units, the National Oil Corporation (NOC) said on Wednesday.
Zawiya is Libya's second largest refinery and was operating at 70-80 percent capacity during a recent crisis that saw armed groups close the western oil fields that feed it.
It was being run on crude oil diverted from Brega terminal further east.
The western fields reopened last week.
The NOC did not say how long the maintenance would last nor how much it would affect output from the refinery.
Libya's largest refinery at Ras Lanuf, with a capacity of 220,000 bpd, remains closed as do the oil terminals in the main oil-producing areas in the east of the country. (Reuters)
