King Hamad Bin Isa of Bahrain meets Arab League Chief

MANAMA: King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain has conferred here with Secretary-General of the Arab League Dr. Nabil Al Arabi who is visiting Manama to attend the conference being held to discuss a study prepared by legal experts on King hamad's initiative to set up an Arab Human Rights Tribunal.

During the meeting held here last night, King Hamad stressed the need to upgrade abilities of the Arab citizen as being the fundamental pillar for the overal development process in the Arab countries, voicing meantime his appreciation to the wide Arab participation in the aforesaid conference which would further enhance culture of human rights principles.

The bahraini monarch also highlighted the tireless efforts the arab league has been exerting for boosting joint arab action backing inter-arab cementing cooperation and to serve asrab aspirations for meeting all current challenges and maintaining security and stability for the best of the Arab peoples towards a better future.

For his part, Dr. Nabil Al Arabi viewed that the "initiative set to establish an Arab Court of Human Rights came in a timely manner and has significant cultural value in the Arab world and will move us to another stage in respect of law and respect for human rights".

Secretary-General of the Arab League added that the establishing of such a tribunal is a very important step as Africa, Europe and Latin America have similar courts. (QNA)
