ALGIERS: HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani arrived in Algiers on Monday on a state visit to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.
HH the Emir and the accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival at Houari Boumediene Airport by Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika. President of the Council of the Nation Abdelkhader Bensalah, President of the People's National Assembly Mohammed Al-Arabi Ould Khalifa, the First Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and President of the Constitutional Council Tayeb Belaiz; a long with several Algerian ministers and high-ranking officials, HE Qatari Ambassador to Algeria Abdullah bin Nasser al-Humaidi and Algerian Ambassador to Qatar Abdul Fattah Zayyani were also present to welcome HH the Emir.
HH the Emir was accorded a red-carpet reception.
HH the Emir is accompanied by HE Qatar's Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani and a high-level official delegation.
In a statement upon arrival, HH the Emir of Qatar expressed great pleasure to meet Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, and conveyed the Qatari people greetings and sincere wishes of further progress and prosperity to the Algerian people.
HH the Emir noted that the visit reflects the constant keenness for consultation and exchanging views between the leaderships of the two countries on the latest developments on the Arab and international arenas; and on ways to further support and strengthen the close brotherly relations in various fields to service to common interests.
