DOHA: HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), witnessed here on Wednesday the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar Foundation and Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Germany.
The MoU was signed for Qatar Foundation by President of Research and Development at QF Dr. Faisal Mohammad al-Suwaidi, and for the Potsdam Institute by its Director Prof. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber.
The MoU, signed at the Qatar National Convention Center on the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP18), aims to discuss scopes of cooperation between Qatar Foundation and the German institute to establish the Centre for Climate Research in Qatar and the launch of a global forum for climate, to be held in Doha annually.
The signing ceremony was attended by HE the President of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP18) Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the UN Framework Convention on climate change (UNFCCC) Executive Secretary Christina Figueres and several senior officials taking part in the conference.
