The Mumbai Monorail train makes its way through the city’s eastern suburbs during a run between Wadala and Chembur. Starting February 2, Mumbai will become the first city in India to use a monorail when the first phase — an 8.93km long section — will be open to the public following inauguration on February 1. Construction of the 20km-long project began in 2009. The four-coach monorail train with a capacity to carry over 560 passengers will run at an average speed set at 65km per hour, with a top speed of 80km.
