Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Speaker Mubarak Gul yesterday said he will summon former Indian Army chief General V K Singh to explain allegations that the army secretly funded ministers in the state. Members of both the ruling National Conference and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) created a ruckus in the assembly, demanding that the retired general be called.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mir Saifullah asked the speaker to summon General V K Singh. Speaker Gul said: “I have decided to write a letter to the former army chief to explain his position.” He said the former army chief would get a month to appear before the assembly.
“(Even) if I have to convene a special session for Gen. V.K Singh, I will do it.” IANS
