Riyadh to host international conference on counter terrorism

RIYADH: A two-day international conference to promote counter-terrorism collaboration between national, regional and international centres and initiatives in association with the United Nations for combating terrorism opens in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this Saturday.
The conference is a co-operation between Saudi Arabia and the United Nations Centre for Counter-Terrorism (UNCCT) and Implementation Task Force in the fight against terrorism.
Four sessions of the conference will discuss the four pillars of the basic strategy of international counter-terrorism. The four key pillars are: measures to address the conditions conducive to the spread of terrorism; measures to prevent and combat terrorism; measures to build the States' capacity to prevent and combat terrorism and to strengthen the role of UN system; measures to ensure respect for human rights for all the rule of law as the fundamental basis of the fight against terrorism.
The gathering will mull measures to prevent the spread of terrorism, human rights and how to build the capacities of countries to combat it as well as strengthen UN's role in this fight.
Participants at the conference include representatives of the Member States of the Conference Advisory Board of UNCCT as well as representatives from 21 countries from the European Union, and 28 global centers. The United Nations will be an observer at the conference. (QNA)
