5 killed, 16 injured in blast at northwest Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: At least five people were killed and more than 20 others injured when a remote-controlled bomb went off Sunday near a shrine in Nowshera town of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan Dunya TV reported.
The bomb was planted on a bicycle in front of the main gate of Ziarat Kaka Sahib shrine, police said.
A large number of people had gathered Sunday on the occasion of Eid. Interior Minister Rehman Malik condemned the blast which took place at a time when Pakistanis are celebrating a three-day Eid holiday Oct 27-29.
According to local media, the injured people who were in critical condition were shifted to lady reading hospital of Peshawar. (QNA)
