ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi's huge sour gas development is on track for completion in late 2014 despite the challenges $10 billion project faces, the CEO of the operating company said on Tuesday.
"Our facilities are 60 percent complete and the drilling is 20 percent complete. By late 2014, we will be delivering the project," Saif al Ghafli, CEO of Abu Dhabi Gas Development Company told an energy conference.
The risks associated with drilling, the size of the facility, the environmental and technical issues are some of the challenges that have to be overcome, he said.
The $10 billion project will deliver 500 million cubic feet per day of clean gas as well as condensates, natural gas liquids and sulphur once completed, he said.
He added that the costs have been according to the plan.
