On its 207th day, the relentless Israeli aggression on the territory persists, unleashing a devastating humanitarian crisis. Tens of thousands of Palestinians have lost their lives, countless others have been wounded, and vital infrastructure lies in ruins.
The Ministry of Health disclosed that, since the onset of the ongoing Israeli aggression on October 7th, the occupying forces have mercilessly claimed the lives of 34,488 Palestinians significant portion of them are innocent children, women and elders. The occupation forces perpetrate massacres daily, deliberately targeting residential buildings and densely populated areas where displaced individuals seek refuge. Tragically, when civilians gather in these supposed safe zones, they become targets for bombing raids.
Compounding the tragedy, civil defence lacks the necessary heavy machinery and rescue equipment. Consequently, tens of thousands of civilians remain trapped under rubble or stranded in the streets. The Israeli occupying forces further exacerbate the situation by obstructing ambulance and civil defence efforts to reach the victims, leaving innocent lives hanging in the balance. Thanks to the brave Palestinian journalists who are carrying live pictures of the Israeli crimes and ongoing genocide acts in the Gaza Strip. This has made the entire world open its eyes to unprecedented massacres and acts of genocide, in a clear challenge to the world and its humanitarian laws, thanks to the double standards and covers being provided to the Israeli occupation forces.
Nevertheless, the magnitude and intensity of brutality witnessed over the past seven months of conflict have eradicated the prevailing apathy toward the plight of the Palestinian people. No matter how much support some countries provided for the occupation, this criminal aggression has raised the level of awareness of the justice of the Palestinian cause, which millions around the world are chanting. What American universities are witnessing is the best evidence of the transformation that global public opinion is witnessing.
This sentiment appears to resonate across Western societies, as an increasing number of individuals become acutely conscious of the egregious violations of humanity unfolding in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. The pervasive awareness prompts widespread shock and dismay among the people. Even those who previously rationalized the significant civilian casualties in Gaza are now, in growing numbers, recognising the utter indefensibility of the current situation.
The nations currently aligned with injustice are reminiscent of those that once backed South Africa’s apartheid regime. Over time, global pressure compelled these nations to revise their stance. Gaza is witnessing unparalleled massacres and genocide, accompanied by egregious human rights violations. It’s imperative that countries rethink their support for Israeli aggression and cease the indiscriminate killing of innocent children and women under the guise of self-defence.
