Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has concluded an important visit to the Sultanate of Oman during which H H the Amir and H M Sultan Haitham bin Tariq reviewed solid fraternal ties the two nations enjoy.
At the conclusion of his visit yesterday, the Amir voiced his happiness with the visit and his meeting with the Sultan of Oman, stressing the common aspirations to deepen close fraternal and historical relations between the two countries and raise them further.
The visit will take bilateral partnership between Qatar and Oman to new heights in diverse fields. Both nations, as well as the entire Gulf Cooperation Council, are witnessing increasing economic integration and interconnectedness with significant growth and economic diversification. The two countries have witnessed an increase in the bilateral trade volume.
During the Amir’s visit, the two countries also signed memoranda of understanding and executive programmes for cooperation in areas of sports and youth, culture and education, diplomatic studies and training, and social development.
Apart from bilateral cooperation, the two sides also discussed the regional and global developments.
They stressed the importance of settling conflicts and disputes by peaceful means and underlined the need to enhance dialogue and international cooperation to support efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region and the world at large.
Oman has lauded the role played by Qatar and its efforts, along with the US and Egypt, for brokering a much-needed ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The two sides expressed the hope that the two parties to the conflict in Gaza would commit themselves to fully implementing the terms of the agreement reached on the exchange of detainees and prisoners. This, they observed, would pave the way for achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
Qatar and Oman also stressed the significance of respecting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria. They called for backing all efforts and endeavours aimed to reach a comprehensive and inclusive transitional process.
Huge potential exists to elevate Qatar-Oman ties in trade, tourism and across industries. The visit by H H the Amir will go a long way in pushing the partnership to broader horizons.
