The Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani left Kathmandu yesterday concluding his three-nation Asia tour to Nepal, Bangladesh and the Philippines. The tour was a resounding success as H H the Amir was bestowed a very warm welcome and the talks were all fruitful and many agreements and MoUs were signed in various sectors.
H H the Amir’s leadership was lauded by all for providing a high standard of living for the Qatari people, achieving one of the highest per capita incomes and launching Qatar National Vision-2030 to transform Qatar into an advanced society. All the leaders were of high praise for Qatar’s active role in mediation in various global conflicts.
The Qatar Cabinet in its weekly meeting yesterday affirmed that the exceptional welcome and hospitality that H H the Amir received during the tour reflected the depth and strength of the State of Qatar’s relations with the three countries and the extent of respect and appreciation that the peoples of these countries have for the State of Qatar and its leadership.
The Cabinet pointed out that the fruitful discussions that His Highness held with the leaders of the three countries, and the atmosphere of friendship and understanding that prevailed, as well as the agreements and memoranda of understanding that were signed during the tour, have solidified and distinguished the bilateral relations with these countries.
All three Asian countries he visited provided workforces to the Gulf region including Qatar in big numbers and their contribution were highlighted by H H the Amir during the visit to these countries. He praised the Filipino, Bangladeshi and Nepalese communities in the State of Qatar for their effective contribution to the development process in the country. Many migrant workers from these countries contribute to Qatar’s workforce and agreements between the governments will streamline the processes and benefit the people of both nations.
As an expression of warmth and appreciation for the visit of HH the Amir, the authorities of Bangladesh named a road and a Park in Dhaka, after him. The road and Park are now known as “Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani Road and Park.” The visit to Nepal was also historic as he became the first Arab leader to visit the state.
This three-nation tour will bolster Qatar’s relations and strategic partnerships with the Philippines. Bangladesh and Nepal manifested through the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding in various fields. The official talks and partnership agreements will strengthen the economic relations between the nations and will elevate bilateral cooperation.
