Qatar is building up on its excellent and distinguished relations with African countries. Relations established over the past decades and its successful outcomes have reflected in the ongoing fruitful and positive co-operation between Qatar and the African continent.  Qatar hosts large number of African diplomatic missions through which the State of Qatar has fostered good relations with the African countries and continue working hard to further enhance cooperation in all fields for the best of all.

Qatar’s effective geopolitical and efficient role at regional and global levels has been a tangible factor, thanks to the wise leadership implementing a strategy aimed at exerting influence using its potential resources in investments, aids, development funds and along these it is  employing the best capabilities to explore possible opportunities that serve joint interests of Qatar and the African countries.  In the framework of the evolving relations between Qatar and the African countries comes the current official visit of the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone H E Julius Maada Bio to the state of Qatar.

The visit would contribute to supporting and solidifying bilateral relations in different fields, including economic and investment sectors for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.

The two sides held yesterday an official talks session, during which bilateral relations were reviewed and ways of supporting and developing them in various fields were also discussed, particularly in investment, economy, tourism, and education spheres, in addition to discussing a number of regional and international issues of common interest.

In a step that strengthens the distinguished relations between the two countries, Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and President of the Republic of Sierra Leone H E Dr. Julius Maada Bio witnessed signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries in various fields.

Qatar-Sierra Leone relations have evolved and grown based on mutual respect and exchange of joint interests between the two peoples and countries, as the consecutive and the exchanged visits between the two countries have significantly contributed to strengthening these relations and opening new prospects for cooperation and coordination between them.  The visit is of particular importance in view of the distinctive role undertaken by the state of Qatar to extend cooperation and partnering with many African countries in implementing development programmes, providing humanitarian aids.

Qatar’s openness to Africa is a part of its wide diplomatic activity in various countries of the world particularly in Africa which constitutes the strategic depth and natural extension of the Arab world.
