Owing to timely and judicious steps taken by the government in recent years, Qatar’s tourism and hospitality sector is witnessing a steady growth in the region and has established itself as the best in the Middle East.

The effects of neatly designed tourism policy of Qatar are visible not only in the country but also being hailed by the world. For the second consecutive year, Qatar’s hospitality sector has been ranked best in the Middle East by the Guest Experience in the Middle East Report, released by hospitality and travel data providers Olery.

The report analysed over twelve million online guest reviews over the past 12 months (April 1, 2018 – March 3, 2019) from popular online booking sites. Qatar’s score increased from 84.3 last year to 85.4.

The development of new attractions, such as the recently opened National Museum of Qatar, was credited with helping maintain the hospitality sector’s momentum. According to the ‘guest type’ category, Qatar’s tourist accommodation was particularly popular among business travelers, families, and friends.

Akbar Al Baker, Secretary-General of Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC), said on the report: “Qatar’s hospitality sector remains a key engine of our tourism vision.  We congratulate our partners in the private sector for their continued growth, and their focus on providing travellers with unparalleled hospitality and authentic experiences.”

Recently, Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) announced a season of summer experiences, retail offers and entertainment, to run from June 4 to August 16, 2019.

This year’s ‘Summer in Qatar’ has introduced a wide range of exciting indoor and outdoor experiences, along with entertainment programmes featuring local, regional and international artists, edutainment, summer and sports camps as well as special promotions on inbound travel, hospitality and shopping. Starting from May 15, Qatar Airways is offering a discount of 25% on all flights to Doha from more than 160 destinations worldwide, for travel to Qatar anytime from May 30 to August 16.

A wide range of hotels and hotel apartments will also offer discounts of up to 25%, valid for stays between June 4 – August 16, 2019 along with several additional incentives and promotions at facilities. Participating hotel groups include Katara Hospitality, Al Rayyan Hospitality Hotels and Marriott International hotels in Qatar. Nine participating malls across Qatar will also be offering special entertainment shows, exhibitions and free activities for different age groups throughout ‘Summer in Qatar’, with programs for adults including free makeup and fitness classes. Under ‘Summer in Qatar’ initiative, residents of Qatar will be able to invite their relatives and friends on free visa.

‘Summer in Qatar’ will definitely give a new boost to Qatar’s tourism sector and will also support country’s hospitality sector which already rests on robust footing.
