More lives were lost yesterday as the suffering of millions continues in Gaza, while the push for a ceasefire continues by the mediators in Doha.
Twenty-three Palestinians were martyred yesterday in a new wave of attacks carried out by Israeli occupation forces across various cities in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Qatar has continued its tireless mediation efforts to secure a ceasefire that would alleviate the dire humanitarian crisis facing the Palestinian people.
Dr. Majid bin Mohammed Al Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated during his weekly media briefing that negotiations remain in their initial phase.
“Efforts are ongoing. The delegations are holding intensive meetings here in Doha,” he said.
He emphasised that this first stage is focused on establishing a framework agreement that would pave the way for structured negotiations.
Coordination with Egypt and the United States remains active, aimed at narrowing the gaps between the two parties and accelerating progress toward a ceasefire.
Dr. Al Ansari also issued a strong call for international accountability, stressing that Israel’s continued actions must not go unchallenged.
“We cannot—and the international community must not—accept Israel’s impunity,” he said.
He denounced the escalation in Gaza and the West Bank, the ongoing Israeli presence in southern Lebanon, as well as cross-border attacks in Syria.
He warned that these actions, along with inflammatory rhetoric from Israeli officials, reflect a blatant disregard for international law and national sovereignty.
At the same time, concerns are mounting over Israel's reported plan to establish what it calls a "humanitarian city" in southern Gaza. Adnan Abu Hasna, media advisor to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), cautioned that this plan is effectively a strategy to create mass internment camps.
He stated that the establishment of aid distribution points in the south has long been part of a broader scheme to forcibly relocate the population.
“Now, they are openly declaring their intent to displace Palestinians into collective detention camps in Rafah—setting the stage for further expulsion from their homeland,” he warned.
Abu Hasna described the situation as one of coercive displacement, where humanitarian aid, fuel shortages, and the collapse of healthcare services are being weaponised to force people to leave.
Since the beginning of Israel’s military campaign on October 7, 2023, the death toll in Gaza has reached 58,479, with over 139,355 wounded.
Thousands are still trapped under rubble or lying on the streets, unreachable due to the constant bombardment.
