Qatar Rail while delivering excellent services is also expanding its network as it recently opened all stations at Orange Line and launched Pink Line of Lusail Tram metwork.
Qatar Rail projects play a pivotal role in realising Qatar’s 2030 vision and serving the integrated public transportation system in the country
According to a survey conducted by Ipsos, the public holds a highly favourable view of the Doha Metro, with nearly 90% of respondents believing it to be a secure mode of transportation that alleviates traffic congestion and enhances accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
Qatar Rail recently started the services on the full Orange Line and Pink Line of the Lusail Tram to the public.
All stations on the Orange Line are now fully operational with the recent opening of new stations, including Naifa, Fox Hills - South, Downtown Lusail, Al Khayl Street, Fox Hills - North, Crescent Park - North, Rawdat Lusail, Erkiyah, Lusail Stadium, and Al Yasmeen. The recent service expansion also included the opening of all Pink Line stations, starting from Legtaifiya and reaching Seef Lusail – North, excluding Al Sa’ad Plaza station, which will be announced to be operational at a later time.
The total number of Lusail tram users since its launch in January 2022 has reached approximately 5.5 million passengers. Thee Tram has played a significant role in facilitating the transportation of residents and visitors within Lusail city during major events hosted by the country over the past two years, including the FIFA World Cup 2022 and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
The Lusail Tram network covers a distance of 19 kilometers and consists of four lines (Orange, Pink, Purple, and Turquoise), connecting various government offices, residential towers, leisure and sports facilities, avenues, marinas, and other major attractions across Lusail City. The newly opened stations give direct access to several key attractions in Lusail city including Al Seef area, Crescent Park, the Lusail Boulevard and Al Maha Island.
Marking a new achievement, Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) announced in March this year that it has received the prestigious five-star recognition for overall organizational excellence from the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM).
This exceptional distinction on Qatar Rail’s first assessment, stands as a testament to the tireless efforts of dedicated leadership and the team at Qatar Rail. Since its inception over 35 years ago, EFQM has assessed more than 50,000 organizations, with only 1% receiving the prestigious five-star recognition. This marks a remarkable achievement for Qatar Rail on both regional and global level.
