Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani launched the new strategy of the Ministry of Municipality for 2024-2030 yesterday in Doha. The Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030) aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030, focusing on three main priorities: excellence in services and digital transformation, enhancing food security, and improving the quality of life and humanizing cities. The ew strategy focuses on sustainable planning, effective policies, distinguished services, and modern infrastructure, driven by strategic goals and strong institutional values. The ministry seeks to achieve these objectives through effective cooperation, smart technologies, and distinguished partnerships.
The ministry provides over 400 services and will continue its comprehensive digital transformation projects to enhance service quality. The new strategy includes leveraging artificial intelligence to expedite services such as issuing building permits.the field of digital transformation will continue implementing comprehensive project for digital transformation to enhance the services, its quality.
Minister of Municipality H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah highlighted the ongoing implementation of the “Takamol programme” to connect all state institutions using geographic information systems. This initiative aims to reduce costs and ensure easy access to information. Furthermore, the ministry is adopting advanced smart waste management systems and tracking its vehicles and containers nationwide to boost efficiency and environmental preservation.
In response to global challenges like climate change, reduced agricultural land, and geopolitical tensions, the ministry’s strategy aims to bolster food security, expand green spaces and parks, and develop public facilities and beaches. These efforts are designed to attract more visitors and investors while ensuring efficient resource management and maintaining stringent food safety standards.
The ministry’s plans are aimed to increase collaboration with the private sector, including privatizing parks and cleaning services, converting waste to energy, and developing citizens’ land infrastructure. The initiatives include a national solid waste programme, which encompasses designing new engineered landfills, closing and rehabilitating old ones, waste segregation at the source, and increasing recycling rates to promote environmental sustainability.
Building modern national competencies and creating an ideal work environment are also key aspects of the strategy. The ministry plans to achieve this through workforce planning and supporting national talent to contribute to the country’s development.
